he’s such a good writer, have you read city in history? im in it now and found it a little amusing how big of a deal the elevator was when it was invented, and how much people said it impacted society… maybe i just live in a world so transformed by the elevator i can’t see otherwise

In CoC I think the part I was most focused on was his treatment of spectator-entertainments. He was not a MovieManiac let's say... I think his point was something like the rise of spectating in culture led to people being disengaged citizens.
